Enriching Lives, Sharing Spaces: GPD Welcomes Rec2Connect to Our Independence Office

This summer, GPD Group welcomed a local organization into our Independence office as a part of our non-profit Space and Resource Share Program. Rec2Connect, who has been a Foundation grant recipient for 3 years, is a Cleveland based non-profit that seeks to offer fully inclusive recreation therapy programs to children with special and medical needs and to enhance their overall quality of life. For many of the participants, recreation activities such as swimming, kayaking, rock climbing, and more wouldn’t be possible without services from Rec2Connect.

As a part of the Space and Resource Share Program, Rec2Connect was given 4-cubicle spaces and one office to be used by members of their staff. They also have full access to our conference rooms for group collaborations and all our various other office amenities and support services like human resources and IT. The goal is to take some of the financial burden off of them so they can focus on growing their programming and offering the best services they can to their kids.

As a small organization, Rec2Connect has never had a space to call home. Until now, we've operated without an official office dedicated to our staff and daily operations. We needed a place our team could come together for meetings, training, and bonding activities; where we could easily host donors, community partners, board members, and families; and where casual hallway conversations could spark creative ideas and
program solutions.

Rec2Connect is the second participant in this program. We have had great success with this program in our Indianapolis Office with A Kid Again who has been using our space since 2019 (they even made the move with us into the new Indianapolis office location!). We are excited to partner with Rec2Connect as they work to grow and offer their services to even more children in the community.
